How to Connect iPhone to New Mac
Apple's iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones available. The iPhone is synchronized with Apple's iTunes software to transfer music, video, images and other data. You can set up an iPhone with a new Mac computer in a few easy steps.
Click the Mac logo on the toolbar and then click "Software Update."
Click "iTunes" from the list of available updates, then click "Update."
Connect your iPhone with the USB cable to your Mac. iTunes will automatically open.
Click "iPhone" from the "Devices" list on the left panel of iTunes. Click "Check for Updates" and then click "Download" if any are available.
Click the tick boxes next to the "Options" that you want to enable. If you have a large amount of music or video in your iTunes library, make sure you select "Sync only checked songs and videos," and "Manually manage music and videos," so that you have complete control over what you transfer. Click "Apply" to complete setting up your iPhone with your new Mac.
Tips & Warnings
- You can only have your iPhone connected with one iTunes library at a time. If you have already connected your device, you will be prompted to "Format" your iPhone and create a new connection.
