How to Connect Your iPhone Contacts With Facebook

By Lynn Burbeck

The iPhone Facebook application gives you the ability to synchronize the contacts on your phone with your friends on Facebook. This application feature makes it possible to obtain more detailed information about your iPhone contacts based on information stored in their Facebook profiles. This information includes profile pictures, personal websites, email addresses, cellphone numbers and customized Facebook Web addresses.

Step 1

Tap on the Facebook icon to open the application on your iPhone. If you don't have the application on your phone, download it for free from the App Store.

Step 2

Click on the menu icon in the upper left corner of the Facebook application. This icon appears regardless of which page you're viewing. Upon clicking on the menu button, you'll have access to all the different areas within the mobile application including your news feed, profile, inbox, groups and events.

Step 3

Click on the "Friends" icon in your Facebook menu. This brings up a list of your confirmed Facebook friends.

Step 4

Click on the "Sync" button in the upper right corner of the screen to access your account options for syncing contacts with your iPhone.

Step 5

Slide your finger along the "On/off" switch next to "Syncing." When turning the feature on, you must agree to the notice that appears on your screen prior to proceeding. If you want to also replace photos of your iPhone contacts with their Facebook profile pictures, slide the "On/off" switch next to "Replace photos."

Step 6

Click on the "Friends" arrow in the upper left corner of the screen to exit the "Sync Contacts" menu. This brings you back to your Friends menu. Your settings are saved and contacts are instantly synced between your iPhone and Facebook.
