How to Convert 3GP to Windows Media Player Audio & Video Files

The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GP) file format is both an audio and video container used primarily for sending files to and from 3G cellular phones. The WMA (Windows Media Audio) file format is the proprietary audio format for Microsoft's Windows Media Player, while the WMV (Windows Media Video) format is the corresponding video container type.

Step 1

Open media-convert.com (see link in Resources).

Step 2

Locate and click the "Upload" or "Select File" button. In the pop-up menu, locate the 3GP file you wish to convert and click "OK" to choose the file.

Step 3

Select "3GP Video" or "3GP Music" as your input file format.

Step 4

Select "WMV" or "WMA" as your output file format.

Step 5

Click "Convert" or "Start" to begin the conversion. Once the conversion is complete, media-convert.com creates a pop-up window with a download link to your new file.

Step 1

Open mediaconverter.org (see link in Resources).

Step 2

Click the "Upload a file" button and locate the 3GP file you wish to convert. The file name will appear in the "Selected files" menu. Click "OK."

Step 3

Select "WMA" or "WMV" as your output file format in the drop-down menu. Click "OK."

Step 4

Click "Start" in the "Summary" menu to begin your conversion.

Step 5

Use the Media Converter download link to download the new file once the conversion is complete.

Step 1

Open Zamzar.com (see link in Resources).

Step 2

Click the "Choose File" button to select the 3GP file you want to convert.

Step 3

Select "WMA" or "WMV" as your output file format in the drop-down menu.

Step 4

Enter your email address in the menu.

Step 5

Click "Convert." After Zamzar converts the file, you'll receive an email with a link to your new file.
