How to Convert 720p Into 1080p

By Bryan Roberts

High-definition input/output devices, such as Blu-ray players, can connect to televisions through Component or HDMI cables, allowing users to view an HD picture on their televisions. If your HD device is sending a 720p resolution signal to your television, you can convert this signal to the superior 1080p signal by manipulating the options in your HD device's menu, provided that your television can display a 1080p signal.

Things You'll Need

  • Television (able to display 1080p signal)
  • HDMI cable

Step 1

Press the "Menu" button on your device's remote to bring up the device's main menu.

Step 2

Select the "Display" option in the main menu to bring up the display menu.

Step 3

Select "HDMI Resolution" and choose the "1080p" option to convert the signal sent from the HD device from 720p to 1080p.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you use component video cables to connect your device to your television, you will be able to get a 1080i resolution, but not 1080p.
