How to Convert Columns to Rows in Excel 2007
After entering data into a spreadsheet you might find that your columns would look better as rows, or your rows as columns. Instead of having to re-enter your data, Excel 2007 has a feature that allows you to convert your data from column view to row view. Rather than being a single button to push or an option to select, the conversion is accomplished through a special copy-and-paste feature.
Select all of the cells in the columns you want to convert to rows.
Click the "Copy" button in the upper-left corner of the program window.
Select an empty cell anywhere outside of the columns you copied.
Click the little arrow beneath the "Paste" button in the upper-left corner of the program window. This opens a menu. Click "Transpose."
Tips & Warnings
- If you need to move your data after you have converted it into rows, simply cut and paste the data into the desired area.
- If you're satisfied with the change, select and delete the original data.
