How to convert MKV/Matroska Video To AVI
A Matroska Video file is an open-source multimedia container that can include audio and video tracks and subtitles. The file format, however, is not compatible with the desktop video applications native to Windows 7. To view an MKV file on your computer, you can convert it to an AVI file, which is compatible with a variety PC programs such as Windows Media Player. Use a third-party video converter to complete the process.
