How to Convert .Stx Video Files

STX (*.stx) is a video file extension for project files made by Pinnacle Studio video editing programs. STX files contain video project settings, media references and various related data files used by the specific project, along with the video information itself.To convert an STX video file to a more common video format such as AVI, WMV or MP4, a conversion program must be downloaded and used. Several of these are available as free trial downloads online.

Things You'll Need

  • STX file
  • Conversion program

Conversion with Tipard Total Media Converter

Step 1

Download and install the Tipard Total Media Converter (see Resources below).

Step 2

Run the program. Click the "Add File" button. Select an STX file to convert. Click "Add."

Step 3

Click the "Browse" button next to the "Destination:" field. Select a target destination for the converted file. Click the "Save as:" menu. Select a file type to convert to (such as MP4, WMV or AVI). Click "OK."

Step 4

Click the "Start" button to convert.

Conversion with OJOsoft HD Video Converter

Step 1

Download and install OJOsoft HD Video Converter (see Resources below).

Step 2

Run the conversion program. Click the upper "Browse" button next to the "Input File Name:" field. Select an STX file to convert. Click "Open."

Step 3

Select one of the top buttons, depending on the desired file type for the STX file. (For example, click "To AVI" to convert the file to AVI.)

Step 4

Click the lower "Browse" button next to the "Output File Name" field. Select a target destination for the converted video file. Click "OK."

Step 5

Click "Convert" to begin the conversion process.
