How to Copy Pictures to a CD-R

Copying pictures to a CD-R is commonly done in order to archive the pictures, transfer them to another computer or give them to a friend. A single CD-R can hold up to 700 megabytes of pictures. This task can be done in a few minutes by any computer with a CD burner. The software needed to complete this process comes installed on every computer as of the time of publication.

Create a back-up of your digital photos by burning them to a CD-R.

PC

Step

Put a blank CD-R into your computer’s CD burner and select “Burn Files to Data Disc” from the blank disc menu that opens.

Step

Select the “Mastered” formatting option for your data disc.

Step

Click “Next.”

Step

Drag the pictures you want to copy to the CD-R into the empty burn folder that opens.

Step

Click “Burn to Disc” when finished adding pictures to the folder. Your pictures will be copied to the CD-R.

Macintosh

Step

Click “File” and select “New Burn Folder.”

Step

Open the new burn folder that appears.

Step

Drag the pictures you want to copy to a CD-R into the burn folder.

Step

Click “Burn” when finished adding pictures to the folder.

Step

Insert a blank CD-R into your computer’s CD burner and your pictures will be copied to the CD-R.
