How to Copy Pictures to a CD-R

Copying pictures to a CD-R is commonly done in order to archive the pictures, transfer them to another computer or give them to a friend. A single CD-R can hold up to 700 megabytes of pictures. This task can be done in a few minutes by any computer with a CD burner. The software needed to complete this process comes installed on every computer as of the time of publication.

Things You'll Need

  • Blank CD-R

PC

Step 1

Put a blank CD-R into your computer's CD burner and select "Burn Files to Data Disc" from the blank disc menu that opens.

Step 2

Select the "Mastered" formatting option for your data disc.

Step 3

Click "Next."

Step 4

Drag the pictures you want to copy to the CD-R into the empty burn folder that opens.

Step 5

Click "Burn to Disc" when finished adding pictures to the folder. Your pictures will be copied to the CD-R.

Macintosh

Step 1

Click "File" and select "New Burn Folder."

Step 2

Open the new burn folder that appears.

Step 3

Drag the pictures you want to copy to a CD-R into the burn folder.

Step 4

Click "Burn" when finished adding pictures to the folder.

Step 5

Insert a blank CD-R into your computer's CD burner and your pictures will be copied to the CD-R.
