The Microsoft Office 2007 suite includes a number of popular productivity applications. Three of the programs included in this collection--Word, Excel and PowerPoint--allow users to insert shapes and then define and adjust their three-dimensional properties. Once you know where to find these options, creating an oval and adding 3D effects to turn it into a sphere is a straightforward process.

Open Microsoft Word 2007, Microsoft Excel 2007 or Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.

Click the "Insert" tab, near the top of the screen.

Click the "Shapes" button and then select the oval shape from the resulting drop-down menu.

Click and drag to define the size of an oval shape, and then release the click to create the shape.

Right-click the shape and select "Format Shape" from the resulting menu.

Click the "3-D Format" menu option on the left-hand side of the dialog box. Enter a value of "100 pt" in each of the four fields that appear beneath the "Bevel" heading. Adjust the other options to suit your design needs, and then click "Close."
