How to Create Blinking Text on HTML

By Kathryn Hatter

HyperText Markup Language (HTML) is a coding language used to create websites. Creating websites and web pages using HTML code can be basic or it can become exceedingly technical. The basic structure of a website consists of HTML tags that create different commands, formatting effects and functions when viewed in an Internet browser. For example, you can create blinking text on HTML anywhere on a web page when you insert the proper tags.

Step 1

Find or enter the text you wish to make blink.

Step 2

Insert the tag "" immediately before the text you wish to make blink.

Step 3

Insert the tag "" immediately after the text you wish to make blink.

Step 4

Utilize this HTML code within a blog post or on a message board website that allows HTML formatting within user-submitted content. Once you publish text with this code, if the website allows HTML formatting, the text will blink.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are creating a website or web page and you wish to insert blinking text, open a text file of the HTML code for the page. Find the text you want to blink and insert the tags immediately before and after the text. Save the text file and upload the code to your web server.
  • Blinking text may not work in some browsers.
