How to Create Free Wallpaper

By Kayla Lowe

Your computer comes with a variety of desktop wallpapers, but you might not like all of them. Of course, you can always download one from a wallpaper website. However, some of these sites can pose security risks, and others simply might not have the wallpaper that you want. The solution is quite simple: Create free wallpaper yourself with the tools you already have on your computer.

Things You'll Need

  • Image editing program

Step 1

Launch Microsoft Paint and use it to create free wallpaper. It is relatively easy to navigate. The tools navigation panel is located on the left of the window. It comes pre-installed on your computer (if you have a Windows computer) so you don't have to purchase a program. Plus, it offers all the functionality needed to create free wallpaper.

Step 2

Launch your Mac Paintbrush, which is very similar to Microsoft Paint. Again, the tools with which you will be working are located on the left navigation panel. They are relatively easy to figure out how to use. This program comes pre-installed on Mac computers and requires all the tools needed to create a free wallpaper.

Step 3

Open PaintShop Pro if you have it installed on your computer. It is an expensive program, but it offers you many more design features for a much more detailed free wallpapers. With PaintShop Pro, you can add layers to create 3-D effects or touch up any distortions or blemishes on a picture, and you are just offered a variety of options. If you would like to try it out, you can opt in for a free trial.
