How to Create Reminders With an iPhone App

By Tyson Cliffton

Set up a reminder on your iPhone in the Calendar app for important events you don't want to miss. When you set up a reminder, an alert appears on the screen that resembles the notice you see announcing an incoming text message. You can set up multiple reminders for events that may be more complicated. For example, if you have a birthday party coming up, you can set up one reminder a week ahead of the party so you won't forget to pick up a gift and another reminder the day before the party to ensure you don't miss the event.

Step 1

Tap the "Calendar" app on your iPhone.

Step 2

Tap the "+" icon in the upper right corner of the Calendar app.

Step 3

Tap "Title Location."

Step 4

Tap "Title." Enter a title for the event you are scheduling. Tap "Location" and type the location of the event. Tap "Done" in the upper right corner of the screen after entering the information.

Step 5

Tap "Starts Ends."

Step 6

Tap "Starts." Scroll through the date and time options on the lower half of the screen to set the date and time that the event starts.

Step 7

Tap "Ends." Scroll through the date and time options on the lower half of the screen to set the date and time that the event ends. Alternatively, tap the "On/Off" toggle to the right of "All-day" and set it to "On" if the event is an all-day activity. Tap "Done" in the upper right corner of the screen when you are finished setting the start and end times.

Step 8

Tap "Repeat." Tap one of the available options if the event occurs on a regular basis to have the reminder appear automatically. Tap "Done" after you've selected a repeat option. Alternatively, tap "None" and tap "Done" if the event does not repeat.

Step 9

Tap "Alert" to set up a reminder. You can schedule a reminder to appear on your iPhone five minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour, two hours, one day or two days before the event. Alternatively, you can set up a reminder to appear on the day of the event. Tap "Done" after you have configured this setting.

Step 10

Tap "Second Alert." Repeat the procedure outlined in Step 9 to set up a second reminder.

Step 11

Tap "Notes" and use the on-screen keyboard to type relevant notes about the event you are scheduling. Tap "Done" after entering these notes.

Step 12

Tap "Done" in the upper right corner of the program window to exit to the Calendar home screen. Your reminders have been set up and will appear as scheduled.
