How to Cut Out an Image in Paint

MS Paint is a powerful free program bundled with the standard programs included with the Microsoft operating system. MS Paint enables basic photo editing and graphics design. In photo editing, you can easily cut out an image in to delete it from a photograph or to move it into another image.

Things You'll Need

  • Digital image

Step 1

Open the MS Paint program. Click "File," "Open," and then highlight an image. Click "Open."

Step 2

Determine the portion of the image you wish to cut out.

Step 3

Select the "Free-Form Select" tool and press and hold the left mouse button. Draw an outline around the image, then release the mouse button. You will see an outline surrounding the image

Step 4

Click the "Edit" tab and choose "Clear Selection" or "Cut" from the drop-down menu. The selected area will disappear. Choose to make everything disappear except the area you outlined by clicking "Edit," "Invert Selection," then "Clear Selection."

Step 5

Save the removed image by selecting "Edit" and "Copy To." Browse to the location where you wish to paste the cut image, enter a name for the image and click "Save."
