How to Delete a Song From an iPod Shuffle

By Amanda Kondolojy

Although iPod Shuffles feature a completely random song mix, you may find yourself continuously hearing a certain song, or discovering a song you don't like while listening to the device's random cycles. Deleting a song from the iPod Shuffle is a fairly easy process, and will allow you to get rid of any songs you don't want.

Things You'll Need

  • iTunes software

Step 1

Open iTunes and then plug in your iPod Shuffle. You will see a small icon appear in the iTunes' left pane that resembles your iPod. Click on it.

Step 2

Select the song that you wish to delete. Select multiple songs by holding down the CTRL key while selecting the individual songs.

Step 3

Right-click the mouse button and select "remove from iPod" from the sub-menu. This will remove these songs from your device, but they will stay on your computer.

Step 4

Press the orange eject button next to your iPod shuffle icon, then disconnect your device.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to delete a song from your computer as well, all you have to do is select it in iTunes, right-click it, and then select "delete" from the sub-menu. This will get rid of the file completely.
