How to Delete My Web Search

Your Internet browser automatically is set to save the history of websites you've visited and the search terms you enter. This might feel like an invasion of privacy. While this feature is supposed to be helpful, it can be annoying at times, but you can delete your Web search history.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Open your Internet Explorer browser and click the "Tools" menu at the top.

Step 2

Choose "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu. Select the tab labeled "General" from the menu that opens.

Step 3

Click the "Clear History" button.

Step 4

For Internet Explorer 7, click the "Tools" menu, select "Delete Browsing History" from the options, then choose the "Delete History" button from the menu that opens.

Mozilla Firefox

Step 1

Open the Mozilla Firefox browser. Select the "Tools" menu and choose "Clear Private Data" from the list.

Step 2

Check the boxes beside the items you'd like to clear. "Browsing History" and "Saved From and Search History" are the two you'll want to check to clear your browser's history and any search terms saved in the search bar.

Step 3

Click the "Clear Private Data Now" button.

Safari

Step 1

Open the Safari Internet browser.

Step 2

Click the "History" menu at the top.

Step 3

Choose "Clear History" from the list of options.
