How to Delete Pictures on an iPhone

You just took a bunch of pictures with your iPhone, or you just synced a lot of pictures with iTunes and transferred them to your iPhone. Now, you want to remove some of them from your phone. Whether it is because of the content, bad or blurry shots, or the pictures are just taking up too much room, there are many reasons why you may need to remove pictures from your iPhone. Depending on if you took the picture with the iPhone camera or added pictures to the phone through iTunes, there are two different processes you can use to delete the pictures on an iPhone.

Pictures Taken

Step 1

Touch the “Photos” icon on the Home screen.

Step 2

Tap “Camera Roll.”

Step 3

Tap the picture you want to delete. Doing this will enlarge the image.

Step 4

Touch the trash can icon to delete the photo.

Pictures Synced

Step 1

Open iTunes on your computer

Step 2

Attach your iPhone to the computer using a USB cable.

Step 3

Select your iPhone device from the left side of the iTunes window.

Step 4

Click the “Photos” tab.

Step 5

Right-click an image you want to delete.

Step 6

Select “Delete” from the menu.

Step 7

Click your iPhone on the left side of the iTunes window again.

Step 8

Click "Sync" to resync the phone and all the images you selected will be removed.
