How to Delete Previous Addresses on Email Forwards

By Daniel Hatter

In order to keep privacy intact, it is important to delete previous addresses listed in email forwards. Many people do not take this simple step before forwarding emails, making it possible for spammers to get a large list of email addresses should the email forward ever fall into their hands. Deleting the previous addresses in email forwards is a very simple process. It can and will save you and others from spam emails down the line.

Step 1

Open your email message and click on the Forward button in your email client. The first line will automatically say "Original Message" and below it will be a list of email addresses from previous forwards.

Step 2

Click anywhere in the body of the email and then press "Ctrl" + "Home" to move your insertion point to the beginning.

Step 3

Click and drag the cursor to select all the text prior to the body of the message. Pressing and holding the Shift key on your keyboard and using the arrow keys to select the text will also work. Once selected, press the "Delete" or "Backspace" key on your keyboard to erase the email addresses. You may now safely forward the email without a listing of previous email addresses.
