How to Delete Search Providers

Many popular browsers offer a feature that displays a list of search providers. This list gives users the option to use different search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Users can edit the list of search providers, including deleting providers that they do not use. To accomplish this, use browser settings.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Launch your Internet Explorer.

Step 2

Click the small arrow on the ride side of the search box. Choose "Manage Search Providers."

Step 3

Highlight the search provider you want to delete. Click the "Remove" button and then click the "Close" button.

Firefox

Step 1

Launch your Firefox browser.

Step 2

Click the small arrow next to the search field in the main menu bar.

Step 3

Select "Manage search engines." Highlight the search engine that you want to delete and click the "Remove" button. Restart your browser.

Chrome

Step 1

Launch your Chrome browser. Click the small wrench icon in the main menu bar. Choose "Options."

Step 2

Click the "Basics" tab and then click the "Manage" button.

Step 3

Highlight the search engine you want to remove. Click the "Remove" button. Click the "Close" button and restart the browser.
