How to Delete the History on an iPhone

Deleting your Safari browsing history and clearing the cookies on your iPhone 5 protect your privacy in the event that someone accesses your device. This feature works by preventing the device from storing browsing history, cookies and website data. Keep in mind that if you enable Private Browsing, you may not be able to use websites that require cookies to store login information.

Wipe the Browsing Slate Clean

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" app on your iPhone.

Step 2

Choose the "Safari" option on the Settings page.

Step 3

Tap the "Clear History" link and confirm by selecting "Clear History" again.

Step 4

Select the "Clear Cookies and Data" option and confirm by tapping "Clear Cookies and Data" again.

Step 5

Tap the "Advanced" option and select "Website Data."

Step 6

Tap "Remove All Website Data" to remove any remaining stored data.

Go Stealthy With Private Browsing

Step 1

Tap the "Safari" app to launch the application.

Step 2

Select the window icon in the bottom toolbar.

Step 3

Tap the "Private" button to enable the Private Browsing feature. Tap "Private" again to exit the private browsing feature. Select "Close All" as you exit to close any open windows.
