How to Disable Proxy in IE

By Silvania Cochrine

A proxy server is used by an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer (IE) to connect to the Internet through another computer. This has the effect of hiding your IP address, making this type of situation great for people concerned about their online privacy. If you have a proxy configured in IE and need to disable it, though, you can do so in almost the same manner in which you originally configured it.

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer, click "Tools" and then click "Internet Options."

Step 2

Click the "Connections" tab and then click on "LAN Settings."

Step 3

Uncheck the box marked "Use a proxy server for this connection" and then hit the "OK" button. The changes you made will be immediately applied and IE will no longer use a proxy server to connect to the Internet.
