How to Disable the camera on the iPod touch

By Carol Reeves

The iPod Touch is not just a regular music player. It has many new features that allow users to do many more things than just listen to music. One new feature the iPod Touch offers is the ability to take pictures with the built-in camera. The camera helps to make this an all around device. But parents may find they do not want their children to have access to a camera that allows them to post pictures online so easily. Apple has made it very easy to turn the camera on or off.

Things You'll Need

  • iPod Touch

Step 1

Press the Home button of the iPod touch to turn it on. The home screen will appear. Tap on the "Settings" icon. This will bring up a new screen that shows all the settings on the iPod touch that you can control.

Step 2

Scroll down until you see the tab that says "Restrictions." Tap on this tab. This will bring you to a new screen where you can turn on and off different applications and settings on the iPod Touch.

Step 3

Tap on the button at the very top that says "Enable Restrictions." It will ask you to set a passcode. Type in the four-digit passcode that you have picked out. It will ask you to type in the passcode again to confirm it.

Step 4

Scroll down to a little bit until you see the icon for the camera. You will be allowed to turn the camera on or off here. Slide the button that says "On" to the left until it says "Off." Turning the camera off will also disable the Facetime feature on the iPod Touch.
