How to Download a Video Off of an SD Card

Secure Digital cards, or SD cards, are a great storage alternative to USB drives and CDs. They are small, convenient and portable. You can find SD cards on a variety of devices, from computers and gaming consoles to cameras and cell phones. You can easily transfer files from an SD card to your computer, just as you would with other removable storage devices. If your computer isn't equipped with an SD card slot, you'll need an SD card reader.

Things You'll Need

  • SD card reader, if needed

Step 01

Insert your SD card into the SD card slot on your computer, or into your SD card reader. If you are using an SD card reader, connect it to your PC.

Step 11

Click the "Close" button if a Removable Device dialogue box opens.

Step 21

Click the "Start" button on your task bar. Open your computer by selecting "Computer" from the list.

Step 31

Located your SD card under the Devices With Removable Storage section. Double-click it and a new window will open showing its contents.

Step 41

Select the video file you want to download. Drag and drop it from its current location to your desktop, or to another location of your choice. The file will then download.

Step 51

Close out of all windows by clicking the "Close" button.
