A driver allows your computer to communicate with your printer. Most drivers can be found on the printer's installation disk. If you don't have the disk, you can download the appropriate drivers from the manufacturer's Internet site. Follow these steps to download drivers for a Canon printer.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Canon printer

Step 1

Visit the Canon Web site. Canon has drivers for every printer they make available for downloading (see Resources below).

Step 2

Select your country from the "Downloads" section located at the bottom of the page. This will tell the site how to present the succeeding pages.

Step 3

Click "Downloads" at the top of the next page. This will carry you to a menu where you will be asked if you are a professional or a consumer.

Step 4

On the pull-down menu select "Consumer." Choose "Printers" from the menu that appears. This will give you access to all of the printers Canon makes.
