How to Download Emoji for iPhone

By Alexander Poirier

Emoji is the Japanese word for emoticons, which are characters that let you express emotions in text-based messages. Every iPhone has an emoji keyboard but, in the United States, this keyboard is disabled by default. If you want to enable this keyboard, you must simply download an emoji app from the iTunes App Store. Luckily, this can be done in a few simple steps.

Step 1

Tap the "App Store" icon on the iPhone's home screen.

Step 2

Tap the "Search" option at the bottom of the App Store window.

Step 3

Tap the search bar to place your cursor there and type "Emoji" in the space. Tap the "Search" key to search for the app.

Step 4

Tap one of the several Emoji apps available. Every emoji app unlocks the same emoji keyboard, so it does not matter which app you download. Emoji, Emoji + and Emoji Free are some of the emoji apps available.

Step 5

Tap the price of the app on the app's Info page, followed by the "Install" button. Enter your Apple ID login information when prompted and tap the "OK" button to begin the download and installation process. Allow several minutes for the app to download and install.
