By Lanae Carr

Creating your own graphics is a great option for saving money on marketing materials for a business. Word processors often come with templates available to design projects for just about any type of campaign. You can customize your template with colors, photos and text. Go beyond the font styles offered by your word processor and download attractive fonts to match your graphic design. You can choose to download free fonts from the Internet or install unused fonts stored on your hard drive.

  • WinRAR or WinZip

From Windows

From the Web

Step 1

Visit a website that offers free font downloads such as Fontstock.net or 1001freefonts.com.

Unpack the font file by double-clicking it or right-clicking the Zip folder. If you are running an updated version of WinRAR, you can select "Extract All" to remove the files from the Zip folder.

Step 4

Right-click the extracted font file (.ttf or .otf) and select "Install" or copy and paste the extracted (.ttf or .otf) font files into the Fonts folder on your computer. This folder is located in the Control Panel under "Appearances and Themes."
