How to Download Google Books As a PDF
Google Books is an application that permits readers to either preview or download books. Books are categorized as having no preview, a snippet view, preview or full view. No preview or snippet views can be read; the book needs to be bought. However, previews sometimes give a portion of a book's content, depending on the wishes of the publisher. Full view books are not copyrighted and can be downloaded without charge.
Things You'll Need
- Internet connection
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
Go to Google Books and browse by subjects, which are located on the left-hand side. More commonly, browsers use keywords to find the subjects, titles or authors they are looking for.
See if the book you want to download is viewable. When the search results come up, it will say in the description what sort of book it is (whether it is viewable or not). You cannot download a book in preview format. Only full view books can be downloaded. If the book you want says "full view," then you can download it. The type of book is always located in the last line of the search item on the right side.
Click on "full view" on the left-hand side when the search results come up. Because you cannot download anything that is not full view, you should eliminate the previews or snippet views right away.
Click the title of the full view book. At the top on the far right-hand side is the "download" button with an arrow pointing downwards. Click it. When this is done, the options for a PDF or an EPUB download will appear.
Download Adobe Acrobat reader if you do not have it on your computer, because this is necessary to read a PDF file.
Click PDF and wait for the download to be complete. Once it is downloaded, click the book and a full PDF will appear. The specific chapters of the book will no longer be clickable. You will now have to find the specific pages by scrolling down.
