How to Download Real Player for Free
RealPlayer is one of the oldest and best known computer programs for playing streaming media over the Internet. Originally conceived as a way to listen to radio stations in listenable quality over dial-up modems, RealPlayer has since grown to encompass higher-quality forms of audio and steaming video. RealPlayer uses a proprietary format for streaming media, and if you encounter a website that features the speech bubble-shaped RealPlayer logo, you will need to download the free RealPlayer to enjoy the content.
Open a Web browser and navigate to the RealPlayer official website using the link in the "Resources" section.
Click the green "RealPlayer SP Free Download" button. A download window appears. Direct your Web browser to the desktop and click the "Save" button.
Double-click the file "RealPlayerSPGold.exe" when the download is complete.
Read the terms outlined in the RealNetworks license agreement for RealPlayer. If you agree to the terms, click the "Accept" button. The RealPlayer installation utility displays a list of special options for you to select from.
Click the first check box if you would like the RealPlayer installation utility to create a shortcut to RealPlayer on the desktop. Select the second box to have RealPlayer place a button at the top of your Web browser window to save videos you enjoy on your computer. Check the final box to have RealPlayer automatically open all files that play. Click "Next".
Use the next check box to indicate whether you would like RealPlayer to install the Google Toolbar for your Web Browser. Click "Next". The installation utility copies RealPlayer from the downloaded archive to the final destination in the Program Files folder.
Click "No Thanks" when asked if you would like to try the premium version of RealPlayer, and then click "OK". After a few short tests of your computer's multimedia capabilities, RealPlayer is ready to use.
