How to Download Songs Onto an MP3 Player From Computer

MP3 players are popular music devices because they allow you to easily transport your music with you wherever you go without having to carry around numerous CDs. To listen to music on an MP3 player, you first have to download songs onto your MP3 player from your computer.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable

Step 1

Plug the smaller end of the USB cable into your MP3 player. Plug the bigger end of the USB cable into your computer’s USB port.

Step 2

Click “Start” and then “My Computer.” Your MP3 player is listed beneath the “Removable Storage Drives.”

Step 3

Locate the songs that you want to download onto your MP3 player. They are usually located in your “My Music” folder.

Step 4

Drag and drop the songs to your MP3 player beneath the “Removable Storage Drives” to download the songs onto your MP3 player.

Tips & Warnings

  • Download more than one song onto your MP3 player at a time by holding down the control (Ctrl) key as you select the songs that you want to drag and drop to your MP3 player.
  • Click the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon before unplugging your MP3 player from your computer.
