How to Download YouTube Videos to iTunes

By Anthony King

YouTube is a video file sharing website that allows anyone to upload audio/video files to be played back and viewed through the Web page. Using a simple process, it is possible for users to save YouTube video or audio into files on their computer's desktop. From there, these videos can then be uploaded onto the iTunes website to share with others or to add to a personal multimedia device.

Step 1

Download the YouTube video converter program (see Resources below for link).

Step 2

Visit the YouTube website and click on a video to save. Allow the video to buffer completely, then right-click the URL (Web address) for the video and select "Copy." Right-click and "Paste" the URL into the YouTube downloader program, and then click the "Download" button.

Step 3

Download the YouTube to MP3 converter program (see Resources below for link) to save only the audio of a YouTube video into an MP3 file on your computer's desktop.

Step 4

Repeat Step 2, only this time pasting the URL into the YouTube to MP3 converter. Click the "Convert" button located at the bottom right corner of the program and wait for the conversion process to complete.

Step 5

Download the iTunes program from the front page of the iTunes website (see Resources below for link). After the download is complete, click "File" and then "Add to Library." A search window will open that allows you to search your hard drive for the YouTube audio or video files you saved in the previous steps. Select the files, click "Open" and they will appear in your iTunes library.
