How to Edit File Properties of a MP4 Movie

MP4, or MPEG-4 Part 14, is a common video format. You can edit certain information associated with MP4 files (e.g., "Title") using your computer's operating system, specifically, Windows Explorer. Using a third-party program such as File Property Edit, you can edit more advanced settings such as the "File Creation Date." or even add subtitles.

Step 1

Download "File Property Edit" from the "Resources" section below. Save the file to your desktop and double-click the "EXE" to begin the installation.

Step 2

Click "Next". Click the "I Accept" to accept the "License agreement.". Click "Install" to complete the installation. Place a check next to "Run File Property Edit" and click the "Finish" button.

Step 3

Click the "Add Files" button. Select the files you want to edit.

Step 4

Click the tabs ("Change File Time", "File Attributes", etc.) that correspond with the properties that you want to edit. Click the "Apply Changes" button to confirm the changes.

Using Windows Explorer

Step 1

Find and select the file with the properties you want to edit.

Step 2

Right-click the file. Select "Properties".

Step 3

Select the "Details" tab. Enter the property information that you want to edit. Click "Apply". Click "OK" to confirm the changes.
