How to Enable ActiveX Control on Windows Vista

Some Internet sites will require that you have Active X running in your browser. These are the steps to ensure that you get the fullest visual and audio experience from these websites. The following steps will require that you change the security settings in your browser, so you will need to be logged into Vista as an administrator to make the changes. This guide is intended for those who have Internet Explorer installed.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with Internet Explorer Browser and Windows Vista

Step 1

Open the browser program.

Step 2

Go to the Tools menu and for Internet Explorer select "Internet Options."

Step 3

Click on the "Security" tab in the window that opens. Ensure that the "Internet Content" zone is selected before clicking on "Custom Level."

Step 4

Locate the controls labeled "Run ActiveX" and select "Enable."

Step 5

Locate "Script ActiveX controls marked safe" and click "Enable."

Step 6

Restart your browser for the settings to take effect.
