How to Factory Restore an HP 311 Mini Notebook
The HP 311 Mini netbook is a compact computer that can travel almost anywhere you need it to go. The netbook features a built-in recovery partition that lets you recover your computer to its factory settings in case you begin experiencing problems with your machine. Problems that can be resolved by recovering the machine to its factory settings include issues with viruses and general stability issues with the operating system. You can access the recovery partition and recover the computer's factory settings from with Windows 7 Start menu.
Click the "Start" icon in the Windows 7 taskbar to open the Start menu.
Type "recovery" in the Search field in the lower-left corner of the Start menu. Click "Recovery Manager" in the list of results that appears on the left side of the Start menu beneath Programs. The HP Recovery Manager program window appears on the screen.
Click "System recovery" beneath "I need help immediately" on the left side of the HP Recovery Manager program window. Select "No" if a window appears asking if you want to try resolving your issue using Microsoft System Restore, then click "Next."
Select "Recover without backing up your files" and then click "Next." Click "Next" again to confirm your awareness that executing a factory recovery will remove any personal file and programs installed on the computer, and recover it to its factory settings.
Click "Next" again to begin the recovery process. The computer will restart automatically after the factory recovery is complete and will boot up to the Windows 7 setup screen.
Tips & Warnings
- Because recovering the factory settings on the HP 311 Mini netbook deletes all of your personal files and programs from the device, back up any personal information to a removable storage device, such as an external hard drive, flash drive, CDs or DVDs before beginning the recovery process. You can move the information back on to your computer after the factory recovery is complete.
