How to Fall Back to an Old Version of Internet Explorer
Although you might hear that the newest versions of Internet Explorer are the easiest to work with or the fastest, you may still want to go back to an older IE version. Perhaps you are feeling nostalgic for the past, or perhaps you like the format of the earlier version. Depending on what program you have on your computer, there may be a few ways to go back to an older IE version. The process for getting an older version of IE back works for any version of Windows, such as '98, Vista, or Windows 7, and for any other type of Windows program.
Close any programs that you are running on your computer, and close any open browser windows.
Click on your "Start" menu in the lower-left corner of your screen.
Choose "Control Panel," then "Add/Remove Programs."
Scroll through the list until you see Internet Explorer. There should be several, including the newest one, which you want to uninstall.
Choose the Internet Explorer version that come after the one you would like to revert to. For instance, if you want to go back to Internet Explorer 6, choose Internet Explorer 7 and 8 and anything that comes after them. You must click on each version you would like to remove, and then click "Remove" for that version, before you click another version.
Click "Remove" for the programs you no longer want.
Close this window and restart your computer.
Click on Internet Explorer. Your computer, and IE program, will revert back to the highest version that has not been removed.
