How to Find a Proxy Address

By Mel Frank

The proxy address on your computer is used to filter information and requests through your Internet connection. Your proxy address is used each time you access an Internet page, check your email, open an online computer file, or even clear your Internet browsing history. When changing your Internet provider, or correcting issues with your Internet connection, you will most times need to know your proxy address to make the proper changes.

Step 1

Open your Internet browser.

Step 2

Select "Tools" and "Internet Options" or "Edit" and "Preferences" from the toolbar at the top of the browser page. These options depend on the type of web browser you are using, and will both direct you to the same place.

Step 3

Click the "Connections" tab, then click "LAN Settings" near the bottom of the box.

Step 4

View your proxy address, which is a numeric code in the Proxy Server box.
