How to Find Deleted History on a Laptop

Retrieve the history files on your computer by performing a system restore. Reset your computer to an earlier date before the history logs were removed. A system restore undoes system changes to your laptop without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos. Back up important data before performing a system restore.

Click the Start menu.

Type "System Restore" (without the quotes) in the search box that appears at the bottom of the Start menu.

Click "System Restore.‌" Type administrator password if or when prompted. Click "Continue" to confirm.

Click "Next" when the "Restore system files and settings" window appears.

Step

Click the restore point that has a date recorded before the history logs were deleted from your computer.

Click "Next." Click "Finish" on the "Confirm your restore point" window to begin the System Restore.

Click "Yes" when prompted for a confirmation. This will reboot your computer.

Click the Start menu and choose "Control Panel." Click to switch to "Classic View" in the left pane.

Double-click "Internet Options."

Step

Click the "General" tab, which should be selected by default.

Step

Click the "Settings" button under "Browsing History."

Step

Click "View Files." This will open a new window called "Temporary Internet files." Scroll down the list of files and their corresponding "Internet Address" and dates when they were accessed.
