How to Find HDD Passwords
A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) password is claimed by manufacturers to be something which offers ultimate security for your hard drive. A Hard Disk Drive password prevents access to an HDD without the password, and cannot be reset or bypassed. However, there a ways that an HDD password can be overwritten, meaning that the password can be changed if it has been forgotten or lost. To do so is a simple process, which does not require a great deal of technical knowledge.
Download the HDD Unlock Wizard (see Resources).
Save all files that you wish to keep onto a flash drive or a CD, since unlocking an HDD password requires all data on the drive to be erased.
Click the "HDD Unlock Wizard" on your desktop and install the device. Follow the instructions in the installation process.
Select the drive you wish to unlock from the menu, and click "Unlock." Although the data on the drive will be removed, it will be possible for you now to provide a new password, which will allow for full access to the Hard Disk Drive.
Tips & Warnings
- All data on the drive will be erased by this process. Back up everything you need or wish to keep on an external drive.
