How to Find Microsoft Word Templates in the 2007 Version

By Tiesha Whatley

Microsoft Word 2007 offers pre-made templates ranging from award certificates to invoices that are loaded on your computer with the standard package. All you have to do is choose the one you want to create a new document. This is quite easy once you know where to look. These templates can be found from within the Microsoft Word application or downloaded from the Microsoft Office website.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Word 2007
  • Internet connection

Step 1

Open Microsoft Word 2007.

Step 2

Click the "Office" button on the left side of the screen.

Step 3

Click on "New." A box will appear that allows you to choose the type of template that you want. On the left side of the screen, scroll through the template types. Choose the template you want and click "Download." The template will either open (if it is already installed on your computer) or download from the Microsoft Office website.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must be connected to the Internet for the file to download from the Microsoft website.
  • You can also go directly to the Microsoft Office website and download the template from there without opening Word first. Templates on the website are ones made by Microsoft as well as others submitted by users, so there is a larger selection to choose from. Find the template that you want and download it. The website will check whether you have the program installed on the computer and if the license is valid. Once it is finished downloading, it will be opened in Word.
