How to Find the Graphics Card on Windows 7

By Andrew Meer

You need to have a dedicated graphics card installed on your computer to watch high-definition movies and play video games. Dedicated graphics cards use either the AGP or the PCI-Express standard to transfer data with the motherboard. If you do not know the model or manufacturer of the graphics card on your computer, you can find it by using the Windows 7 Device Manager.

Step 1

Click "Start," right-click "Computer" and select "Properties."

Step 2

Click the "Device Manager" option on the left side of the window.

Step 3

Expand the "Display Adapters" option by clicking the ">" sign next to it. The name of the graphics card will be displayed under it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Right-click the name of the graphics card and select "Properties" to find out more information about the device.
