Replacing the LCD Screen and Keypad

Step

Power down your cell phone, and then place your phone face down. Remove the battery cover, and remove the battery from its compartment. Set the battery aside.

Step

Remove the Phillips-head screws from the back cover. Some Samsung phones have two screws on the bottom or top two corners. They also may have a Phillips-head screw on each corner of the rear casing.

Step

Insert a guitar pick or credit card into the crease along the outside edge of the phone. Work your way all the way around the phone until the back casing is separated from the phone and the circuit board is visible.

Step

Disconnect the LCD screen ribbon cable from the bottom-right corner of the circuit board. Remove the Phillips-head screws that attach the top corners of the circuit board to the phone.

Step

Tilt the circuit board downwards until you see the ribbon cable located on the bottom left-hand or right-hand corner of the corner on the opposite side of the circuit board. Disconnect the keypad ribbon cable and remove the circuit board from the phone.

Step

Separate the plastic bezel from the front of the LCD screen, and remove the keypad from the phone. Use a guitar pick or credit card to separate the LCD screen from its compartment.

Step

Install the new LCD screen and keypad by repeating this procedure in reverse.
