How to Fix a Cracked LCD on a Television

By Greyson Ferguson

Oftentimes a scratch on your LCD television means permanent damage to the digital display behind the glass. However, if you are lucky enough for the screen to only display cosmetic damage (and not distort the image of the video content behind the glass), all you need to do is fix the scratch in the LCD television screen. This is done with a few household products you may already have on hand.

Things You'll Need

  • Vaseline
  • Soft cloth
  • Notecard

Step 1

Power down the LCD television. If you leave the television on, you increase the chances of shocking yourself while repairing the TV screen.

Step 2

Wipe off the area around the scratch on your LCD screen. You do not want dust in the scratch when attempting to repair the television.

Step 3

Dip a soft cloth into a container of Vaseline and wipe it over the scratch in your LCD screen. The Vaseline matches the same density and color tone as the screen, so it works suitably to fill in the scratch.

Step 4

Wipe off the excess Vaseline with a note card and clean off any smudges left around the scratch. Power on the television and the scratch is now nonexistent (at least to the unsuspecting eye).
