How to Fix an Internet Connection on a Belkin Router

By Jedadiah Casey

Belkin produces routers for the home and small business market segment. These routers are designed to share a single high-speed Internet connection, such as cable or DSL. The cable or DSL modem connects to the Belkin router with an Ethernet cable. The computers on the local network connect to the Belkin router with Ethernet cables or wirelessly, if the Belkin router supports wireless connections. Fix an Internet connection that is not working properly with a Belkin router by troubleshooting the connection issue.

Step 1

Unplug the power from the Belkin router.

Step 2

Reconnect the power and wait 30 seconds for the router to initialize. Attempt to visit a website. Proceed if unsuccessful.

Step 3

Unplug the power from the router and the Internet connection device.

Step 4

Reconnect the power to the Internet connection device and wait approximately two minutes for the signal to synchronize.

Step 5

Reconnect the power to the router and wait 30 seconds for it to initialize. Attempt to visit a website. If unsuccessful, there may be a problem with the Internet Service Provider. Call the ISP to verify connectivity on their end.
