How to Flash a Sprint HTC Evo to Work on Metro PCS

The Sprint HTC EVO features 4.3-inch LCD display, high-definition camcorder, HDMI output jack and 1 gigabyte of internal memory. The phone utilizes the Google Android operating system. You can flash your Sprint HTC EVO to MetroPCS by first obtaining your phone's ESN number and then updating the device's firmware using CDMA Workshop.

Step 1

Contact Sprint Customer service at 888-211-4727. Provide the service agent with your account number when asked. Tell the representative that you would like to obtain your HTC EVO's ESN number. The representative will tell you this number over the phone. Write it down on a sheet of paper.

Step 2

Download and install the CDMA Workshop program on your computer. This program enables users to flash HTC EVO phones to the CDMA Metro PCS Network. This is the only program available to flash HTC EVO phones. Download the program from and follow installation instructions.

Step 3

Connect your HTC EVO phone to your computer via USB data cable. Open the CDMA Workshop program on your computer and then click "Connect" button. Click the "Read" button immediately after clicking "Connect."

Step 4

Click the "Security" tab in the application. Click the drop-down bar next to "SPC." Select the "Universal RAM" option for this menu and then click the "Read" button. Change the start address to "018E" and the size to "106936."

Step 5

Select the "Memory" tab in the program. Type your ESN number into the ESN field. Click the "Main" tab at the top of the window. Click the "Send" button in the lower right corner of the program. The program notifies you when the firmware update has completed. Once, complete you have flashed your phone to MetroPCS.
