How to Get a New Comcast Digital Cable Remote

By Christopher Kennedy

Comcast Cable provides digital cable, telephone and Internet services to residential users. Subscribing to Comcast entitles users to access Comcast's premium services and equipment. Subscribers do not own Comcast cable boxes and equipment. They rent them on a month-to-month basis and therefore, if a subscriber faces difficulties with her rented equipment, she has the option to have it replaced by Comcast. This includes cable boxes, digital adapters, modems, and even remote controls.

Step 1

Call Comcast at 1-877-634-4434 and speak with a representative to request a replacement remote control. When calling, you will need to have the last four digits of your Social Security Number, your home phone number associated with the account, and the billing address. The representative will confirm your details and have the replacement remote control shipped to you.

Step 2

Visit your local Comcast retail store. Take your old or broken remote with you to receive a new replacement. Bring your personal ID, the last four digits of your Social Security Number, the home phone number associated with the account, and the billing address. You will be asked to sign a form acknowledging that you received the new remote control.

Step 3

Program your new remote control by using the information available on Comcast's website based on the remote control you own. (See Resources)
