Gmail offers its users an easy way to retrieve their passwords when they are lost. When signing up for a free Gmail account, users are asked to specify a secondary backup email account that will be used if the Gmail account becomes inaccessible. If a user forgets his or her Gmail password, a password reset email will be sent to the secondary backup email account.
Access Google's Password Recovery Page. Go to Gmail.com and under the account log-in box, click on "Can't access your account?"
Select one of the radio buttons to explain in more detail what is going on. Select either "I forgot my password," "My account has been compromised" or "My password doesn't seem to be working."
Click on the link that appears to go to the password recovery page. Enter the Gmail username into the box and click the "Submit" button. If you clicked "My account has been compromised," click the link that appears below to fill out an account recovery form.
