By Natasha Carlton

Apple is constantly making updates to the operating system for the iPhone to improve usability. With the release of iOS 4, the apple iPhone has the ability to increase the text size on certain applications. It is now easier for people who are visually impaired to read emails, messages and notes with the opportunity to increase words on the screen up to 56pt (point) text. This upgraded accessibility feature is only available on the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4.

Step 1

Locate and select the "Settings" button.

Step 2

Select the option "Accessibility."

Step 3

Click the option "Large Text."

Step 4

Select the appropriate size text that suites your needs then press the "Home" key. The text is now larger for the contacts, calendar, messages, mail and notes applications.
