How to Get My Phone to Ring

By Riz Khan

Modern cellphones offer user profiles that can quickly change the configuration of the phone. For instance, selecting a "Silent" profile activates the cellphone in silent mode. In this mode, your phone does not ring even when someone calls you. While vibration mode is useful at places where it's important to switch off the mobile phone, you may not need this setting activated at all times. You can get your phone to ring again by reverting to the original user profile.

iPhone

Step 1

Tap "Settings" on the home screen of your iPhone.

Step 2

Tap "Sounds." Under "Ring" category, move the slider to the right to maximize the ringer.

Step 3

Move the slider on the left side of your device in an upwards direction to turn off the silent mode.

BlackBerry

Step 1

Turn off the mute feature by pressing the "Mute" key at the top of your device.

Step 2

Press the "Volume Up" key on the right side of your BlackBerry cellphone.

Step 3

Pres the "Q" key to change the profile to vibrate mode. Press the key again to revert to normal mode.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can switch the cell phone back to normal mode so the ringer is on by changing the profile. Consult your phone's user guide for shortcut keys for mute/unmute options.
