How to Get Rid of Ad.doubleclick

Ad.doubleclick is a tracking cookie that records information about your Internet habits and relays the information to third-party advertisers. While most cookies are effective in speeding up the communication between your computer and a website, tracking cookies should be removed immediately as they are usually installed without your knowledge or permission. Unlock other cookies, ad.doubleclick installs additional files on your computer that need to be removed outside of your Web browser.

Step 1

Press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Esc" to bring up the Windows task manager. Click the "Processes" tab, and click the "DoubleClick" entry in the list, then click "End Process."

Step 2

Click "Start," and type "regedit" into the search field. Press "Enter" to open the registry editor. Click the "Edit" button, and click "Find." Type in "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Backup\(\" into the search field, and click "Find." Right-click the located entry and click "Delete." Complete this process for each of the registry entries associated with the infection.The registry entries to be removed are: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Backup\(\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Backup\( SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\( SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\(\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\( SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\( SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes(\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes\(\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes\(

Step 3

Click "Start," and click "Computer." Type "doubleclick" into the search field to locate the file. Click the located file, and press "Delete." Close the window and right-click the "Recycle Bin" click "Empty" to erase the ad.doubleclick files.

Step 4

Restart your computer to save the changes to the registry and permanently remove the ad.doubleclick files.
