How to Get Rid of Baidu

Baidu is a Chinese Web services company that provides services including Chinese search engine for websites, images and audio files. Baidu provides an index of over 740 million web pages, 10 million multimedia files and 80 million images at the time of publication. Users can download the Baidu search toolbar into their current browser to make Internet browsing even easier. The toolbar is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. The toolbar can also be removed if users no longer wish to use it.

Firefox

Step 1

Launch the Firefox browser by double-clicking the "Firefox" icon on your desktop.

Step 2

Click "Tools" followed by "Add-ons."

Step 3

Click the "Extensions" tab.

Step 4

Click the "Baidu Toolbar."

Step 5

Click the "Uninstall" button followed by "Restart Firefox" when prompted. The process takes less than a minute. Upon restarting Firefox, the Baidu toolbar will be removed.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Click the "Start" menu on the lower left corner of your screen.

Step 2

Click "Control Panel" followed by "Add/Remove Programs."

Step 3

Scroll down to "Baidu Toolbar," and click to select it.

Step 4

Click the "Change/Remove" button followed by "Continue" to confirm the uninstall. The "Baidu Uninstall" window launches. The uninstall process begins and may take 30 seconds to one minute to complete. Once you receive the message "Uninstall Complete," click the "Close" button to complete the process and restart Internet Explorer. The Baidu toolbar is removed.

Safari

Step 1

Double-click "Finder" from the desktop.

Step 2

Browse to and double-click on "Applications."

Step 3

Scroll down to "Toolbars," and then click to select "Baidu."

Step 4

Double-click "Uninstall."

Step 5

Enter your username and password when prompted, and click "OK" to complete the uninstallation. The "Baidu Uninstall" window launches. The uninstallation process begins and takes up to a minute to complete. An "Uninstall Complete" message appears when the toolbar has been successfully uninstalled. Click "Close" to exit the window. When you restart Safari, the toolbar will be removed.
