How to Get Rid of Firefox & Go Back to Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer offers ease of use, simple downloads and add-ons along with increased security and privacy settings, allowing you to customize how you browse the Internet.

Step 1

Open Mozilla Firefox and type in the web address bar “” Type “Internet Explorer” in the "Search" bar and click “Search.”

Step 2

Scroll down halfway down the page until you see the latest version of Internet Explorer; click on “Download Now” and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation of Internet Explorer.

Step 3

Uninstall Mozilla Firefox in order to ensure Internet Explorer is your default browser; on the computer desktop, go to “Start,” then “Control Panel.” Once the Control Panel is open, click on “Uninstall Programs.”

Step 4

Locate “Mozilla Firefox” in the list of programs, double-click the program and the uninstall process will begin. Continue until the process is complete. You will be prompted to restart your computer.

Step 5

Allow the computer to boot back up. Double click on the “Internet Explorer” icon. When prompted to make Internet Explorer your default browser, click “Yes.”
