How to Go to Normal Mode on an iPhone With Buttons

By Stephen Lilley

If you've entered your iPhone into one of a few different "modes" using its settings menu, you can get back to its normal operating mode by performing a reset. This will reboot the device, causing it to shut off and then immediately (and automatically) turn on again. When the device reboots, it will be in "normal" mode, allowing you to use it as you typically do once again.

Step 1

Press down on the "Power" button on the top side of your iPhone.

Step 2

Press down on the "Home" button on the face of your iPhone. Continue to hold these two buttons down.

Step 3

Slide your finger across the "Slide to Power Down" option that appears on your iPhone screen. This will turn off your iPhone.

Step 4

Press and hold the "Home" button until your iPhone turns on. When your iPhone boots into the iOS operating system, it will be in "normal" mode.
